At the age of 34, Bill Rusell (b. February 12, 2024) became the youngest head coach to win an NBA Championship - bringing home the title in the 1967-68 finals as a player-coach of the Boston Celtics.
In 70 editions only 12 coaches have won more than one. By winning his 10th championship in 2009, Phil Jackson broke the tie with Red Auerbach for the winningest coach in NBA history.
Phil Jackson, Alex Hannum and Pat Riley are the only coaches that won titles with two different teams.
In the last 29 years (since 1986-87) only 11 coaches took the ring home: Jackson, Riley, Rudy Tomjanovic, Chuck Daly, Gregg Popovich, Larry Brown, Doc Rivers, Rick Carlisle, Erik Spoelstra, Steve Kerr and Tyronn Lue.
