Tim Tebow was traded to the New York Jets on March 21, 2012. He did not sign with the team as a free agent. Tebow was acquired by the Jets in exchange for a fourth round draft pick and a sixth round draft pick. The Broncos, who traded Tebow after signing Peyton Manning, also gave up a seventh rounder in addition to Tebow.
Tim Tebow was born on August 14, 1987, in Makati City, Philippines.
Tebow helped the Florida Gators win two BCS Championships and was named the Heisman Trophy winner in 2007. Despite leading the NFL's Denver Broncos to the playoffs in 2011, the popular quarterback was traded to the New York Jets after the season. He has also signed with the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles, and worked as a television analyst between NFL gigs.
In sports buzz, Tim Tebow signed a minor league contract with the New York Mets on Thursday, Sept. 8, and will begin his professional baseball career in the fall instructional league on Sept. 19 in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
The decision nonetheless was made at the highest levels of the organization -- by Alderson and chief operating officer Jeff Wilpon -- and did not intimately involve the team's baseball-operations personnel. The Mets were one of 28 teams to attend Tebow's showcase recently in Los Angeles. Catch more scoop at ESPN.
