Dave Hester was convicted of Driving Under the Influence in the mid 2000s.

After his conviction in 2005, he was required to do community service at a local Goodwill store. This is where he saw the potential in a thrift business and decided to transform his furniture store into a thrift store.

Dave closed his Newport Consignment Gallery in Costa Mesa, California and his Rags to Riches thrift store in June 2011. Today he operates his own auction house called Dave Hester Auctions.

Just in- Dave is no longer a cast member of Storage Wars after calling out the show for being fake and claiming that certain portions of it are staged. He says that he was wrongly fired and is suing the show for more than $750,000. Also mentioned in the lawsuit is the allegation that the Storage Wars producers sprang for plastic surgery of a female cast member in order to make her more attractive to male viewers.
