What does rock a noo mean?

Port - Neches Groves volleyball team, headed by Barbara Comeaux, is known as the "Rock-A-Noos".

What does Rock-A-Noo mean? Comeaux didn't give a word for word translation but explains:

Rock-a-Noos has a meaning and a spirit all its own. I believe each year the returning players want to keep that meaning and tradition alive. It all goes along with the Indian spirit at PN-G; what it means to compete as an Indian with confidence and you get that special feeling when competing with your teammates.

When Google failed to reveal what could be the secret words, people end up saying that it's only known to those who have played volleyball at PN-G, keeping the meaning of the word secret.

Others say that it doesn't mean anything, just some sort of conspiracy to keep people wondering.

And while we do as well wonder about the legacy of "Rock-A-Noos" tradition, we did our own interpretation on what it could possibly mean.

To rock something means to give your best effort with confidence, with a bit of attitude and a widely acceptable definition of "rock" with its slang usage is "to use"; "to make do with".

Noos (also written as nous) in Greek philosophy means “mind” or “intellect” which is also synonymous to common sense and practical intelligence.

In that sense, we suspect that the phrase is just a simple reminder to every PN-G player to always have a presence of mind in every game that they play - to remain calm and take quick, sensible action.
