Is the TV show Pawn Stars, real? Or staged?

The History Channel’s reality series Pawn Stars is real; it's staged for filming but there isn't any acting involved. The people and personalities seen in the show are all real.

The negotiations between the staff of Las Vegas’ Gold & Silver Pawn Shop and its customers are often edited for length, and like any filmed production edited together to form a compelling story with camera angles and tight cuts.

When a customer presents an interesting or unique item, they may be asked to return to the shop so that the film crew can capture the entire set of negotiations on camera.

The series, starring Rick Harrison, Richard Harrison, Corey Harrison, and Austin 'Chumlee' Russell, premiered on July 19, 2009, and aired the finale of its 5th season; episode 5.25 on July 14, 2012.

If you're in the Carlsbad, California area on August 15-19 and have old weapons or war memorabilia to sell, Pawn Stars' Sean Rich wants you to stop by Guy Stuff at 507 Grand Ave. They'll be auctioning off the most interesting finds on Sunday.
