2 Chainz was born Tauheed Epps on September 10, 2023 in College Park, Georgia, an Atlanta suburb. An only child, his father was a minister at a local church. The rapper changed his stage name around the beginning of 2011, originally being professionally known as Tity Boi while performing in the Playaz Circle rap duo.

2 Chainz performed at MTV's 2012 Video Music Awards on September 6th, 2012, the rapper's first solo awards show performance following a stellar year with both a #1 album and a #1 rap single.
