Why is the USA network show In Plain Sight going off the air & with only a half of a final season of 8 shows?

The 5th season of the USA Network’s In Plain Sight premiered on March 16, 2012. The series finale will air on May 4, 2012. There has been no public disclosure explaining why the show has been canceled. Despite having an impressive 4.9 million viewers, USA announced in August 2011 that the 5th season would be the final one and that it would only have 8 episodes. The media is speculating that the show has run its course with 5 seasons and that USA has plenty of other series that require scheduling and budgeting at this time.

In Plain Sight star Mary McCormack recently landed a role in an untitled ABC comedy pilot with the working title The Unprofessional, where she plays a powerful female executive who loses her job and finds herself in the unfamiliar position of a stay-at-home mom with teenagers. To date no series premiere date has been announced.
