Where is the kentucky derby located?

The Kentucky Derby takes place at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky. The racetrack is located just south of downtown Louisville, about 1 mile south of the University of Louisville and 1 mile west of Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. It's very close to Route 60 and Route 1020. Interstate 264 and Interstate 65 are also nearby.

Post time for the 138th Kentucky Derby on Saturday, May 5, 2024 is set for 6:24 PM. The race itself will be covered by NBC, which will begin its pre-race coverage at 5 PM.

NBC Sports Network will begin their pre-Derby coverage, including preliminary races, at 11 AM. Pre-Derby coverage will include interviews of celebrity guests, analysis from professional handicappers, pieces on previous races and horses, the playing of "My Old Kentucky Home," and the post parade.

The pre-race favorite is Bodemeister, trained by Bob Baffert and named after Olympic gold medal winning skier Bode Miller.
