What number increased by 8% of itself is 1944?

The number is 1800. Eight percent of 1800 is 144 ---- 1800 + 144 = 1944.

To solve this you can set up a proportion. If the original number is 100% 1944 would be 108% of the original. (Since it was increased by 8%).

Solving the proportion gives you:

1944 * 100 = 108 * x

x= (1944 * 100) / 108

x = 194400 / 108

x= 1800
