Dunkirk (set to release on July 21, 2023) is a film about the 10-day-long World War II battle and evacuation in the French city in 1940.
Film synopsis:
A group of soldiers lead by Corporal "Tubby" Bins (John Mills), stranded in France, must make their way to the shores of Dunkirk in hopes of a rescue. Back in Britain, Charles Foreman (Bernard Lee), a newspaper reporter, desperately tries to raise awareness among the public of the horrible reality of the war. When the British navy calls for all civilian ships to aid in a rescue, Foreman takes out his own small boat and attempts to bring Tubby and his men home safely.
Dunkirk stars Kenneth Branagh, newcomer Fionn Whitehead, Mark Rylance and Nolan stalwarts Tom Hardy and Cillian Murphy; the former plays a pilot in Dunkirk, while the latter portrays a sailor who survives a submarine attack, only to be rescued and brought to the fight in Dunkirk.
One Direction's Harry Styles, making his big-screen debut, is also shown briefly in the trailer as part of a group of young soldiers witnessing the carnage unfolding around them.
