What is the famous painting of an old man praying at a table over a loaf of bread

It is titled "GRACE". It was originally a photograph by Eric Enstrom, shot at his photography studio in the tiny mining town of Bovey, Minnesota, back in the year of 1918.

Enstrom took this picture to show people that even though they had to do without many things because of the war they still had much to be thankful for.

The early pictures were printed either in black and white, or in sepia (brown tone). Later, Mrs. Rhoda Nyberg (Enstrom's daughter), of Coleraine, Minnesota, brought the photo to life, hand-painting them in oils, and interest in the picture mounted, and widespread distribution with her colorization. She died at the age of 95 on February 21, 2012.

According to The Huffington Post, new research by Greek and German scientists suggests that some of the world's most celebrated landscape paintings may reveal information about pollution levels in Earth's past that could help them predict future climate change. Find out more here.
