What is the Dukan diet?
The Dukan diet has 4 phases and is high in protein and doesn't require one to count calories. You can eat as much as you want whenever you want, as long as you remain within the food types for the phase in which you're currently involved.
You can eat protein and oats in all 4 phases, as well as drink lots of water and you should take a 20-minute walk every day.
In the 1st phase only protein is allowed (lose 7 pounds in 5 days).
In the 2nd phase you add vegetables to your diet (lose 2 pounds a week).
Fruits and grains are added in the third phase.
The last phase (stabilization) requires you to consistently follow portions of the other phases in order to prevent weight regain.
The Dukan diet, you may have noticed, is very similar to the Atkins diet; it's based around a low intake of carbohydrates.
