What are the lyrics to the song "Swimming pools" by Kendrick Lamar?

Here are the lyrics:

Pour up, drank, head shot, drank
Sit down, drank, stand up, drank
Pass out, drank, wake up, drank
Faded, drank, faded, drank

Now I done grew up round some people living their life in bottles
Granddaddy had the golden flask back stroke every day in Chicago
Some people like the way it feels
Some people wanna kill their sorrows
Some people wanna fit in with the popular that was my problem
I was in the dark room loud tunes, looking to make a vow soon
That I'mma get fuċked up, fillin' up my cup I see the crowd move
Changing by the minute and the record on repeat
Took a sip, then another sip, then somebody said to me

The second single from Good Kid, Mad City finds Lamar tackling the perils of having a drinking problem. The song was released July 13, 2012.

Lamar spits his rhymes over a minimalist T-Minus beat. The Canadian producer is best known for the soundscapes he's provided for a number of Drake's musings, including his hit single "Make Me Proud." Lamar performed this song along with "Poetic Justice" on the January 26, 2024 episode of Saturday Night Live.

In latest buzz, Kendrick Lamar is about to have a massive week.

The rapper's new album Damn, the highly-anticipated follow-up to his 2015 release To Pimp A Butterfly, arrives on April 14. Considering the weighty subject material of Lamar's previous two full-length releases, from the masterfully constructed narrative arc of his 2012's good kid, m.A.A.d city to Butterfly's searing political messaging, fans can likely expect a similarly heavy-hitting release from Lamar on Friday.
