If a dog eats chocolate, will it kill him?

Not medical advice: Chocolate is one of the most common poisonous foods for dogs. The problem with chocolate is the compound theobromine. While humans metabolize it very quickly it takes much longer for dogs. Theobromine contributes to the "buzz" we get from eating chocolate.

After 17 hours only half is digested. That means a dog can suffer seizures, tremors, and high blood pressure from eating chocolate as well as a potential for death. The worst kinds are dark chocolate and bakers chocolate which contain a higher level of theobromine.
