The official label for the "longest walleye" caught hasn't reached The Guinness Book of Records yet. However, there is much citation about the 'Harper Fish' caught in 1960 on Old Hickory Lake in Tennessee - which reportedly weighed 25 pounds and 41 inches in length.
Anecdotal reports say that like most old records, Mabry Harper just needed a fishing buddy to confirm the record and it went into the books.
You can also count this 20-pound, 5-ounce walleye fished in the Columbia River at the Washington–Oregon border as of the possible contenders.
A Washington angler by the name of John Grubenhoff caught the said fish which measured 35 1/2 inches from tip to tail with a girth of 22 3/4 inches.
