JetBlue is a high-profile budget airline that has become successful by sticking to a unique yet deceptively simple business model. They offer low fares, live in-flight TV and direct point-to-point service. They focus on servicing a relatively short list of destinations. One of the many major airports JetBlue hasn’t landed in yet is the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport or any other runway in the state.
JetBlue may not fly to Minnesota, but in March 2012 a past tragedy in Minnesota was linked to a midair JetBlue meltdown. An emergency landing was made when a group of passengers had to subdue Captain Osbon who was acting erratically on a flight from New York to Las Vegas. Early speculation pointed to a possible unexpected reaction to sleep medication. The federal government has recently taken a stern stance against pilots taking sleep medication, even off the clock. This stems from a charter-jet crash in Minnesota that was attributed to the possibility of a medicated pilot.
