It was Laura Vandervoort who played Kara Zor-El/Kara Kent (Supergirl) on Smallville from 2007 to 2011.
Supergirl is Superman's partner and cousin. Kara was also sent on a spaceship to Earth when Krypton exploded, only she arrived as a teenager. As a 16-year-old, she was sent from Krypton to take care of baby Clark. However, her ship got caught in suspended animation during the journey and her arrival was delayed several years until Clark was in fact older than her.
She is often said to be more powerful than Superman but this is because he holds finely-tuned control over his powers so as not to hurt people. In the TV show Smallville she was able to crush a mobile (cell) phone and bend the bars of a jail cell.
The recent Supergirl/The Flash crossover was fantastic! As per Entertainment Weekly, it wasn’t a surprise that The Flash/Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) blended seamlessly with the CBS superhero show. Supergirl and The Flash are very similar in tone; they’re incredibly earnest, and, that shone through in “World’s Finest,” a fast-paced episode that was overflowing with heart and hilarious one-liners.
