Whats dihydrocodeine?

Not Medical Advice: Dihydrocodeine contains a medicine called dihydrocodeine tartrate. It belongs to a group of medicines called analgesics (painkillers). It works by binding to certain tiny areas, called opioid receptors, in your central nervous system (brain and spinal cord). This leads to a decrease in the way you feel pain and your reaction to pain.

Dihydrocodeine is used to relieve moderate to severe pain caused by conditions such as sciatica, Paget’s disease and shingles.

This medication is sometimes prescribed in combination with the painkiller paracetamol in a medicine called co-dydramol.
