What is the weight or a fish if it weighs 10 sounds plus half its weight

The fish weighs 20 pounds. Here's the formula from a geometric perspective.

One way to think of the problem is that:

fish weight = 10 + 1/2 (fish weight)

Assume x = fish weight, thus x = 10 + x/2

Solution:

Subtract 1/2x from both sides.

x - 1/2x = 1/2x + 10 - 1/2x

1/2x = 10

Multiply both sides by 2.

2 * (1/2x) = (2) * (10)

x = 20
