What is Loratadine and what is its purpose?

Loratadine is an antihistamine used to temporarily relieve the symptoms of hay fever and other allergies. Symptoms include runny nose, sneezing, itchy, watery eyes and itching of the throat. It works by blocking the action of histamine. Loratadine is the generic name for Claritin 24 Hour Allergy and Tavist ND.
