Viacom’s high-definition music network Palladia was re-launched on February 1, 2024 as MTV Live, a move the broadcaster says is a step towards “aligning all core music properties under the MTV brand.”
The move is the second for a Viacom-owned music network in as many months following the re-branding of VH1 Soul to BET Soul in December.
MTV launched its original music-based programming channel Music High Definition (MHD) in 2006. Two years later, the channel changed its name to Palladia. Palladia hosted such specials as the HD simulcasts of the MTV Europe Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards, CMT Music Awards and VH1 Hip Hop Honors.
