What government agency has provided the public with dietary guidelines to help promote health and prevent disease

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) have jointly published the Dietary Guidelines every 5 years since 1980.

Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP) plays a vital role in developing and coordinating a wide range of national disease prevention and health promotion activities.

ODPHP was created by the Congress in 1976. They’re part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services under the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health.

The Dietary Guidelines for Americans is the Nation’s go-to source for nutrition advice. Each edition of the Dietary Guidelines reflects the current body of nutrition science. These recommendations help Americans make healthy food and beverage choices and serve as the foundation for vital nutrition policies and programs across the United States.
