What does an asterisk mean on an AP exam?

The asterisk (*) indicates 'notes'. It means you must follow the list or they are important. The note or the comment is usually at the bottom of the page.

Advanced Placement (AP) examinations are offered once per year in May, usually at high schools that offer AP courses.

AP scores are used by colleges and universities to determine if they will grant you credit for what you've already learned, or allow you to skip the equivalent course once you get to college.
