What days does the Houston Zoo have free admission?

The Houston Zoo offers free admission to their guests on the first Tuesday of each month, September through May, from noon until closing. June, July, and August do not have Free Afternoons. Please note that this offer includes Zoo admission only and does not apply to the carousel, giraffe feeding, Zoo Lights or other events/attractions.

You will need a free ticket to enter on free afternoons; get them at the gate or ahead of time online. Tickets are available online starting six days prior to the event, i.e. the Wednesday before each Free Tuesday Afternoon.

The Houston Zoo is made up of many moving parts. They have over 6,000 permanent residents (the animals) for whom they provide housing, meals, medical care and, yes, even education! There are over 2 million guests each year who come to experience the incredible variety of animals and ecosystems, as well as attend special private and public events and entertainment.
