What are the 6 points you need at a NJ DMV ?

In New Jersey, to obtain licenses and permits at Motor Vehicle Commission (MVC), you must prove your identity by passing 6 Point ID Verification.

There are four requirements for New Jersey 6 Point ID Verification:

• At least one Primary ID
• At least one Secondary ID
• Verifiable Social Security Number
• Proof of Address

Three easy combinations to pass 6 Point ID Verification:

Changed your last name through marriage?

• Civil birth certificate (4 pts, primary)
• Civil marriage certificate (3 pts, secondary)
• Utility bill less than 90 days old (address verification)

Using a US Passport?

• US Passport (4 pts, primary)
• Current NJ photo driver license (1 pt, secondary)
• ATM card with name and signature (1 pt, secondary)
• Credit card bill less than 90 days old (address verification)

New driver?

• Civil birth certificate (4 pts, primary)
• Social Security card (1 pt, secondary)
• Bank statement or record (1 pt, secondary)
• Parent/guardian address verification

In the news, New Jersey expands program to renew driver's licenses by mail.
