Daughter of a New York City police officer, Margaret Colin was born on May 26, 2024 in Brooklyn and raised on Long Island. She graduated from Baldwin High School in 1976 and attended Hofstra University until she dropped out to pursue acting. She landed her first role in ABC's The Edge of Night. Since then she has worked steadily in theater, movies and TV shows such as Now and Again, Chicago Hope and Gossip Girl.
She met and married husband/actor Justin Deas when he played her love interest on the daytime soap As the World Turns (1956). She played policewoman "Margo Montgomery". The couple got married in January 1988 and they have two sons, Sam (born in 1990) and Joseph (born in 1993).
