Is Mike Tirico leaving ESPN?

Mike Tirico’s time with ESPN is officially coming to an end. The network confirmed reports that surfaced last month that the longtime Monday Night Football personality is leaving ESPN to go to NBC Sports this summer.

“During his 25 years with the company, Mike has made tremendous contributions to ESPN across the variety of sports and properties he has touched; even more important, he has developed lasting friendships with his on-air colleagues and so many ESPN employees behind the camera,” said John Wildhack, ESPN Executive Vice President, Programming and Production in a statement.

“We thank Mike for all he’s done for ESPN and we wish him the best in this new chapter of his career.”

Longtime ESPN broadcaster Sean McDonough will replace Tirico on the Monday Night Football show. He will make his debut at the Pro Football Hall of Fame game in August.

In buzz, Mike Tirico appeared on ESPN for the final time Thursday, as he is set to join NBC Sports on July 1.

Tirico, who has been with ESPN for 25 years, worked the network’s Euro 2016 coverage on location in Paris. With a stunning backdrop of Paris, ESPN’s Bob Ley sat down with Tirico and wished him the best on his new venture. Read more at For The Win.
