Is Megan fox's thumb really deformed?

via kwout

Yes, Megan Fox has a common deformity known as clubbed thumb, medically known as brachydactyly.

Brachydactyly literally means short finger. The nail of the thumb in this condition is often very short and wide. It is usually hereditary according to Dr. Steven Bendner, a hand surgeon at Beth Israel Medical Center. Although it could also have been caused by frostbite, or it could have been an injury to the growth plate in childhood.

Brachydactyly is a general term that refers to disproportionately short fingers and toes, and forms part of the group of limb malformations characterized by bone dysostosis.

There is no specific management or treatment that is applicable to all forms of brachydactyly. Plastic surgery is only indicated if the brachydactyly affects hand function or for cosmetic reasons, but is typically not needed.

Most celebrities with physical deformities have no problem speaking about an extra nipple, webbed feet and mismatched eyes. Check out RadarOnline.com’s guide to interesting body oddities.
