Is it true that the dallas cowboys cheerleaders can only cheer for a maximum of 5 years? If so why is that?

While no official policy on how long a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader can serve appears to be available, anecdotal comments on cheerleaders lasting no longer than five years are found. While some suggest they may get the boot at the five year mark, others suggest there is no real time limit and the women are simply just ready to move on after five years. You can visit the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader Five Year Club here.

The 2012 squad is made up of mostly rookies, but does have three four-year veterans; Jackie Bob, Meagan McVay and Mia Greenhouse. The squad also boasts five-year veterans Cassie Trammell, Melissa Kellerman, Sydney Durso and Whitney Isleib.

Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders are under a strict regimen of rehearsals and trainings. They have 2-5 rehearsals a week before the season begins, and they are expected to attend all rehearsals. If they miss a rehearsal before a game or show they are not allowed to perform at the game.

Cheerleaders are paid $150 per home game. They do not get compensated for rehearsals. They do have opportunities for paid appearances and shows, though.

DCC director, Kelli McGonagill Finglass, has been selected to receive the 2012 Lindale ISD Distinguished Alumni Award. Finglass, who graduated from Lindale High School in 1983, was a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader from 1984-1989.She was the first cheerleader to receive an invitation to return to the squad without having to audition. Finglass travels internationally with USO tours, and does volunteer work with children who have special needs and with children who are hospitalized.
