We say no.
There's a belief that white moths are souls of lost people seeking the way to heaven, black moths are evil omens, and if one flies into your face means that a letter is on the way to you.
While you might get in trouble with individuals who deeply believe in such superstition, it is human's natural reaction to kill small animals (may it be a moth, bug, spider etc) that cause infestation or just for the very simple reason that they're afraid of those creatures.
Superstition is a belief or an action that is inconsistent with science, says Stuart Vyse, a Connecticut College psychologist.
Vyse says only 40 percent of Americans believe in evolution and over half of Americans have some kind of superstition that they believe in.
"Count yourself lucky if you're NOT superstitious", he said. "In a world where we prize science, it may not be something to be proud of."
