Yes. Dr. Phil McGraw is the most well-known mental health professional in the world.
Dr. McGraw earned a Doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the University of North Texas, followed by a post-doctoral fellowship in forensic psychology from the Wilmington Institute.
He was a licensed psychologist in the state of Texas where he practiced clinical psychology and developed one of the country’s first multi-modal protocols for the treatment of chronic pain.
With training and expertise in both clinical and forensic psychology, Dr. McGraw founded CSI (Courtroom Sciences, Inc.), an innovative consulting firm specializing in all aspects of litigation support, providing multi-disciplinary expertise in all areas of litigation and forensic arenas, including some of the country’s most high-profile cases.
Confusions were probably from his character as Dr. Phil in the 2006 film Scary Movie 4, where one of his lines states: "I'm not even a psychologist. I'm an electrician."
