In poker, does a 5 of a kind beat a straight flush?

An Ace high straight-flush, also called a Royal Flush, is the highest natural hand. In poker however, it does not beat a five of a kind. A five of a kind (only possible when using wild cards) is the highest possible hand. If more than one hand has five of a kind, the higher card wins.

Hands ranked from high to low:

  • • Five of a Kind
  • • Straight Flush
  • • Four of a Kind
  • • Full House
  • • Flush
  • • Straight
  • • Three of a Kind
  • • Two Pair
  • • Pair
  • • High Card

Poker uses a standard pack of 52 cards. Game variations may use multiple card decks or add a few joker cards.

Card that are dealt rank this way: Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, Ace (from high to low). There are four suits (clubs, spades, diamonds, and hearts). All poker hands have five cards and the highest hand wins.
