How many shots are in a nipper of alcohol?

It's just a little more than 1 shot.

A standard drink (1 shot) is 1.5 oz (44 mL) of 40% liquor. Miniature (nipper) spirits or alcohol are usually (1.7 oz (50 mL) - typically 40%, 80 proof.

But please note that if you're drinking shots of liquor (a good way to increase your BAC quickly), be aware that shot glasses come in different sizes.

As per Moderatedrinking.com, if you really want to be precise and do the math, here's the formula:

# oz liquor X % alcohol content X 2 / (divided by) 12

For example the formula for a shot of 1.5 oz. 40% tequila would be:

1.5 X 40 X 2 / 12 = 1.0

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than 51 percent of adults over 18 are regular drinkers, consuming at least 12 drinks in the past year.

While plenty of people have no problem tipping back a few, many may not know how to stay safe and healthy while imbibing. Check out these top 10 tips for healthy drinking shared by Onemedical.com.
