It is spelled "GNAT".

Gnat via kwout

Gnat is:

any of various tiny two-winged flies, especially those that sometimes form swarms.

Gnat is the common name for many small, winged insects in the fly grouping. According to Orkin, contrary to popular belief, these tiny flying insects are not “babies,” they are adults. The tiny flying insects that many people call “gnats” could really be fruit flies or fungus gnats. Depending on species, gnats can be biting or nonbiting and will feed on plants, other insects or blood.

As for the appearance, they are small sized flies ranging in size from 1/8″ to 1/10″ in length. They have two wings and they resemble more to a mosquito than to a fly.
