Do people really plant expensive objects in storage lockers on the show storage wars?

An A&E publicist for Storage Wars has reported that, “There is no staging involved. The items uncovered in the storage units are the actual items featured on the show.” Producer Thom Beers says that 400 hours of film is shot for each 1 hour viewers see on TV and that only about 1 out of 10 storage lockers has anything valuable in it.

Just recently, Dave Hester, the "Yuuup man", was kicked off Storage Wars. In a lawsuit against the show he claims that he was fired after telling producers that he witnessed expensive objects being planted in storage lockers before episode filming. He also says that producers paid for plastic surgery of one female cast member in order to make her more appealing to male viewers of the show.

Auctioneer Dan Dotson has gone on the record denying Hester's staging allegations saying, "We only sell legitimate units on Storage Wars. Every unit goes through a 64-day legal process and no one has access to units prior to auction.”

Storage Wars regulars haven't publicly commented on Hester's accusations that bidding is rigged and storage lockers are staged.
