Did Randy Travis die?

No. Randy Travis is very much alive. In 2013, Travis survived a life-threatening health scare that left him unable to walk or talk. He has since continued to slowly recover.

Randy Travis was born on May 4, 2024 in Marshville, North Carolina. He is best known for opening the door to young artists who sought to return to the traditional sound of country music.

Travis was discovered by Elizabeth Hatcher when he was 18 and fought hard to make a name for himself. He found his stride in 1986 with a No. 1 album, Storms of Life. He went on to win a Grammy Award and sell millions of copies of subsequent albums. From 1986 to 1994 he racked up 15 #1 singles.

Just In! Randy Travis brought the Country Music Hall of Fame audience to tears Sunday night, Oct. 16.

The country music star, who was being inducted into the hall, took the podium and performed a few lyrics from "Amazing Grace." Travis suffered a stroke three years ago which impaired his ability to walk and affected his vocal chords.

Travis stood up from his wheel chair and -- with his wife Mary-Davis Travis and his longtime friend Garth Brooks by his side -- he sang the uplifting song. He received a standing ovation when he finished. Catch more at CNN.
