Why is Ted beneke in the hospital in the show breaking bad season 5 episode 1

In Season 5 Episode 1 of Breaking Bad, Ted Beneke ends up in the hospital because of the two operatives that Saul sends; they force him to write a check to the IRS and when Ted tries to escape, he trips on a throw rug, slamming his head into a kitchen counter and knocking himself out cold.

Ted Beneke (played by Christopher Cousins), is a divorced father of two, he was Skyler's boss at Beneke Fabricators. Ted harbors romantic feelings for Skyler, which she modulated until she began an affair with him to retaliate against Walt. Their affair ends when Hank is shot and Skyler leaves work to help him recover.
