Steps on how to program a GE Universal remote control from Radioshack.com:

Manually Entering Codes:

  • Remove the battery cover and batteries from the GE Universal Remote Control. Look for a sticker in the battery compartment that contains the model number. Identify the version number, indicated by "V2," "V3" or "V4." If no V-number is listed, assume it is version 1.
  • Check the code list for your specific version from the Jasco website and reference the code for the device you wish to use.
  • Turn on the device you are programming into the GE Universal Remote Control.
  • Hold down the "Setup" button for approximately four seconds until the red indicator light illuminates.
  • Press the appropriate device button, such as "TV," "DVD," "SAT" or "AUX."
  • Enter the 3- or 4-digit code. Assuming you entered a valid code, the indicator light turns off.
  • Press the "Power" button. If the device turns off, you have successfully programmed the remote control for the device. Otherwise, repeat the process using a different code.
