Cinecrystal is the brand name Acer uses for their glossy screen display technology. It also indicates that it is a newer LCD display that uses LED backlighting. Older glossy displays which utilized CCFL backlighting were sold under the CrystalBrite branding.
Glossy displays tend to have better color reproduction and contrast ratios than matte displays which make them ideal for multimedia purposes such as photos and movies.
This display style provides better picture in low light circumstances, with rich colors, bright whites, deep blacks, and sharp images. In brightly lit situations, however, the glossy display tends to have problems with glare and reflection.
