What happen to Bob Allen the sports caster that was on channel 13 eye witness news in Houston,Texas?

After 38 ½ years at KTRK (Channel 13), sportscaster Bob Allen left the program and joined Channel 11 in April 2013.

In 1974, the Oakland A's won the World Series, Rice Stadium hosted the Super Bowl -- the Miami Dolphins won -- and at Channel 13, a young broadcaster who used to visit the station as a child began his television career.

Bob Allen is homegrown talent; born and raised in Houston. He started in radio, then graduated to the TV screen, first as the weekend sports anchor. The next year, he became Sports Director. (Read more at abc13.com).

In June of 2015, the sports anchor shared that he's been diagnosed with cancer and revealed his plan to take a leave of absence from KHOU (Channel 11) while he undergoes treatment at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.

And in February 2016, Allen happily wrote on his Facebook page:

Just wanted all of you out there to know I'm doing MUCH better...the cancer is gone! I am now in the rehab facility at MD Anderson trying to regain the stamina,strength & coordination I lost during the months of the stem cell transplant process.Everyone including myself is very optimistic .Feel like I'm on the downhill run....read more here.
