A semi-truck driver, also known as a heavy truck or tractor-trailer driver has a mean annual wage of $40,940, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Mean annual wage is the estimated total annual wages of an occupation divided by its estimated employment, i.e., the average annual wage.
Semi-truck drivers transport or drive a tractor-trailer combination or a truck with a capacity of at least 26,000 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW). Drivers may be required to unload the truck. This occupation requires a commercial drivers' license.
