What do the fugees mean by haitian sicilian?

Part of the lyrics of Fugees' song, How Many Mics, says: Momma always told me "You're one in a million"; Always watch your back, never tangle with Haitian Sicilians.

Referring to Haitian Sicilians, a contributor of Genius.com explains:

Stereotypically, Haitians and Sicilians are usually involved in Mafia-like organized crime, which there are many in New York. Wyclef refuses to go down that road, therefore, will be free to do what he pleases in life without the mafia breathing down his back.

Another contributor posted:

The line is Haitian-Sicilians. Its a stab at african americans (haitians being black) who try to be mafioso gangster types. Sicily being the origin of the mobsters who immigrated to the USA.

How Many Mics appeared on "The Score", the Fugees’ multi-platinum 1996 album. J. Period said that a conversation he had with Wyclef inspired some of the rapper’s lyrics on this song.
