No. Chris Cornell was never part of th Stone Temple Pilots. He was a musician, singer, and songwriter, best known as lead vocalist for the bands "Soundgarden" and "Audioslave".

Born on July 20, 1964, in Seattle, Cornell co-founded Soundgarden with Hiro Yamamoto, Kim Thayil and Matt Cameron in 1984. The band was among the most influential of the early grunge scene, achieving multi-platinum sales with Superunknown in 1994 before disbanding two years later. He went on to enjoy more success with Audioslave and as a solo artist, before reuniting with Soundgarden in 2010.

On the other hand, Stone Temple Pilots members are Dean DeLeo (guitar); Robert DeLeo (bass); Eric Kretz (drums); Scott Weiland (vocals). The group was formed in San Diego, CA in 1987 and was originally named "Mighty Joe Young".
