Is Mgso4 a base salt or acid?

MgSO4 is a neutral salt.

MGSO4 is a salt formed from the reaction of a strong base (magnesium hydroxide) with strong acid (sulfuric acid).

Acids have a pH of less than 7. Bases have a pH of more than 7. When bases are dissolved in water, they are known as alkalis.

Salts are made when an acid reacts with a base, carbonate or metal. The name of the salt formed depends on the metal in the base and the acid used.

COMMON ACIDS AND BASES:

Strong Acids

HCl - hydrochloric acid

HNO 3 - nitric acid

H 2 SO 4 - sulfuric acid

Weak Acids

CH 3 COOH - acetic acid

H 2 CO 3 - carbonic acid

H 3 PO 4 - phosphoric acid

Strong Bases

NaOH - sodium hydroxide

KOH - potassium hydroxide

Ba(OH) 2 - barium hydroxide

Weak Bases

NH 3 - ammonia

CH 2 NH 2 - methyl amine
