Is alcohol prohibeted in alaska?
Alaska's legislature decided about 30 years ago to allow the local governments of the state to determine the legality of alcohol usage, calling it a "local option." Of Alaska's rural communities, 68% voted to become 'dry' (alcohol prohibited), while the Alaskan urban areas became either "damp" (limited import of alcohol allowed for personal consumption), or "wet" (communities where alcoholic beverages may be purchased in liquor, or grocery stores).
