Edward Woodward was born on June 6, 2024 in Croydon, England. Woodward first made himself known as a prominent stage actor, performing for various repertory companies throughout the British Isles. After making his London stage debut in 1954, the actor began to branch out into film and television, playing several small parts until finally landing his own series, "Callan" (ITV, 1967-1972).

He's also starred in the movie "The Wicker Man" (1973) and "Breaker Morant" (1980). Perhaps his most well-known performance came on the small screen when he starred in "The Equalizer" (CBS, 1985-89), a role that earned him a cult following as well as five consecutive Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe Award.

He lived in New York for five years filming "The Equalizer." It made him wealthy, but Woodward regretted making the series which took a heavy toll on his health. Working 20 hours at a time, he coped by smoking 100 cigarettes a day - and had a major heart attack.

Unfortunately, Edward Woodward passed away on November 16, 2023 due to pneumonia.
