How do you wish someone a happy passover in hebrew?

Chag Sameach (KHAHG sah-MEHY-ahkh) is an appropriate greeting in Hebrew especially for Sukkot, Shavu'ot and Pesach (Passover).

The early spring eight-day festival of Passover begins on the 15th and lasts until the 22nd of the Hebrew month of Nissan. It celebrates the emancipation of the Israelites from slavery in ancient Egypt.

The first two days and last two days of Passover are considered holidays. Kiddush and festive holiday meals are eaten on both nights and days, and holiday candles are lit at night. Driving vehicles, handling money, working, writing, and operating electrical appliances are off limits. Cooking and carrying outdoors is allowed.

The middle four days are called chol hamoed, semi-festive "intermediate days." On these days most forms of work are permitted.

Of interest, a shortage of whitefish in the Great Lakes region of the U.S. caused by the winter deep freeze has Jewish families this Passover opting for the canned, jarred, or frozen version when preparing gefilte fish. Find out more from the Huffington Post.
